I was 27 years old and single when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I thought I was going to die, well, here I am almost three years later, feeling better than ever with a loving husband and adorable 4 months old twins. Ladies, Breast Cancer can be treated. I will feel good knowing that because of me, all women know that breast cancer can undeniably be treated if diagnosed early. I’d like to feel that I’ve gone through this ordeal for some good reason. Shortly after my father moved to Gaborone in 2008, he was sadly diagnosed as being terminally ill with cancer and it was suggested by a friend that I contact a counsellor from CAB for two purposes, one to help my dad deal with the reality of his condition, counsel him and answer any questions he may have and the other was to help prepare my daughter, who was 13 at the time, deal with the deterioration and the inevitable loss of a grandparent that she so adored.

I have been involved with CAB from early 1996, my background is nursing, and Hospice Counselling and volunteer work with the cancer patients and their families. My role is to provide emotional support and assistance to families in the community who are dealing with all the associated problems with cancer in the home. My largest contribution is counseling.
